Effective Communication

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Communication must be introduced as the single most important skill a person can develop. Some people are born with a heightened ability and talent, while others have worked hard to develop this tremendous skill.

Communication has many areas that we could explore, but I would like to note how critical it is in the world of marketing.

We begin by identifying who we are trying to reach. This may be a very broad demographic (adults 25-54) or a niche market (college students). After we have identified who we are trying to connect with, we begin to envision a glimpse at life through their eyes. What does their average day look like, what do they like to do, what do they avoid, how do they communicate? Once we understand the behavior of
our target audience we are ready to find the most efficient ways to market to them.

The next step is to explore how to best create advertisements that our target consumer will see, hear, connect with and
respond to. Communicating with your customers on a level that they understand will increase interest and the sale of your products and services.
